I cannot speak these words aloud— like Ibuki's smoldering mugwort, you will never know how fiercely my heart burns for you.

The cold winter wind blows the setting sun down into the waiting sea

Like snow upon the peaks of Sagami, falling on distant mountains near and far— even should it melt away, my love for you never shall.

The cherry blossoms have lost their hue, fading like my beauty in the passing rains— while I watched the world go by.

The passing rain has left its dew upon the cypress leaves, still wet— and now the evening mist ascends through autumn's fading light.

These lingering spring days gather one upon another— how distant now, the past

Like seaweed on the rocks, swaying toward one shore alone— so my heart leans to you, beloved, and memory floods back unbidden.

Autumn wind sweeps through— over thicket and plowed field, Mount Fuji stands eternal

So this is it— my final home? Five feet of snow.

Deep in mountain shadows, a deer cries through crimson leaves— how autumn breaks the heart.
